The
Bronx Beer Hall is a place that EVERY PERSON ON EARTH should go to. If not all the time, then at least some of the time. And let me tell you why...
It's located in the MIDDLE of a market. How many bars can you list where you can also pick up your fresh veggies, hand-rolled cigars, and homemade cannoli? The Beer Hall is inside the market, strategically placed between the rude tshirt guy and the best butcher on earth. If you are looking for the bar, you're not gonna see a big sign outside, you just have to go in the market. Yes, that market is in the Bronx, but just go. Get on the train and go.

Another reason why this place is awesome is that they have a KILLER beer selection the changes regularly, with four different size options- 1/2 pint, pint, papa's pint & pitcher- that all come in awesome mason jars (except the pitchers). (For an extra $2 you get a lid and you can take one home!) Their draft beers come from NY, too, so you better believe it's fresh. And when the bar kicks a keg, they announce it loud and proud by ringing a bell and lifting the empty one up for all to see.
There are regular happy hour specials (that I actually don't know what they are), but since we were there on a Saturday, they didn't apply, so the folks at the Bronx Beer Hall hooked us UP!

So, you're going to a market to drink some beer? You're gonna want some
food. They've got a solid menu, including some serious sausage, and
delicious fries.
But a great bar is really only great because of the staff. The bartenders and wait staff were super nice and friendly, and the guys responsible, brothers Anthony and Paul Ramirez, are just a boatload of fun and prizes. There's a third partner, David Greco, who I didn't meet, so if you're there, give him some cred, too.

They hooked us up with a reserved table, which was our home base for NINE HOURS. Yep, that's right, our happy afternoon turned into a happy evening, which then turned into a happy NIGHT. All the other stalls in the market shut down and the bar is the only thing open after about 7pm or 8pm. Karaoke started up some time around 9:30pm, which quickly turned into an 80s dance party. And I don't know what time the bar closed, since we finally stumbled home after midnight.

With all these great things to say, I've got to have at least one downside, right? Well, the bathrooms are not the most awesome. Beer Hall patrons use the market's public restroom- the ladies' room was alright, at least there was toilet paper all night. But I heard the men's room wasn't in as good of shape! Anthony assured me he's working on it. Definitely not enough of a reason to stay away- just be prepared!
This was our first Saturday happy afternoon, and we had a fun group of maybe 15 people overall. The adventures will definitely continue so we don't miss out on some hot spots outside of the main drag in Manhattan. I guarantee you will have a blast at the Bronx Beer Hall. Go. Just go.
