Double Wide Bar & Southern Kitchen was a hot mess of fun! Not entirely sure if that was because of the bar, or the awesome crowd that came out.

| the birthday trio! |
It was a muggy, rainy July evening, but that didn't stop the happy
hour/birthday party goers. Yep, that's right, happy hour served a
quadruple purpose! 1. Happy Hour. 2. Sami's bday. 3. Matt's bday. 4.
Laura's bday. Therefore, there was a HUGE turnout, and lots of
drinking.

| happy birthday balloon. sadly, abandoned to the ceiling. |

But down to business....Double Wide is a fun spot in the heart of the East Village (12th St btwn Ave A & Ave B), with two spacious rooms divided by a wall (thus the double-wide). I didn't snap a pic of the other side, but was pretty much an open room with tables and chairs- would probably be a great spot for a party. We stuck to the bar side, though!

The specials are great- $3 wells, $4 drafts, $2 tecate cans, $2 off cocktails- until 8:00pm. Although order your last HH round early, because despite the fact that many people had been waiting well before 8pm, and yes the bartender was swamped, but he gave no apologies for charging full price at 8:01pm.

As the 'kitchen' part of the name suggests, Double Wide serves food! The mac & cheese was darn heavenly, and the fries were delish!

Overall it was another huge success with much happy hour nonsense that ensued.
I would certainly go back...although note that their AC is either nonexistent or very weak, because it was HOT. Maybe just goes along with the Southern theme, though.
