Review: Woody McHale's on Dec 2, 2010

December's Happy Hour at Woody McHale's in December was very exciting, complete with door prizes and certificates!  It was great to see so many faces, and was a great way to start the holiday season.

This was the first happy hour where prizes were awarded, and everyone was eager to find out who was winning the prize for best attendance in 2010.  First, there were door prizes for the first three people to arrive, which included a pair of shot glasses, play dough, mini snickers, and condoms and lube.

Later on in the evening, a Certificate of Perfect Attendance was presented to Sami for not missing a single happy hour in 2010, and really he's never missed a happy hour since he moved to NYC the summer of 2009!   Who will get a certificate for perfect attendance in 2011?









But about the bar...Woody's is a fabulous bar that makes you feel comfortable.  You walk down a few steps to get in, so it has somewhat of a basement feel.  The wood paneling adds to that cozy atmosphere.  There are several TVs throughout the bar, so this would be a great place to watch a game and drink cheap booze.  It was December, so the bar was festively decorated with 'holiday' decor- very appropriate for the season.

FYI- Buckets of Yuengling actually come with FIVE beers.

The specials are awesome: $3.50 domestic bottles, $4.50 wells, $5.50 guiness, $3.25 yuengling and buckets of yuengling for $11 til 7:00pm- and they were nice enough to extend the specials (except the buckets) til 9:00pm for our group.  The food is good, especially for bar food- but I did hear a few people comment that it was a bit on the pricey side.  Although, my argument is that you're there to drink, and food helps cushion the belly, but if you're looking for gourmet, go to a restaurant not a bar!  One of my complaints was that the music did get on the loud side at times, but it also contributed to the fun social-gathering atmosphere.  One great plus is that the bar really conveniently located on 14th St between 7th & 8th Aves.

The staff at the bar were super nice, and definitely took care of our rowdy crowd of 35 or so the whole night! 






Overall, yet another huge happy hour success!  I would highly recommend checking out Woody McHale's, especially for happy hour.
